Things to do before your flea pest control service

  • Thoroughly vacuum all carpeted flooring. Dispose of vacuum bag in a sealed container in the outside trash.

  • For extra control, place a piece of an over the counter flea collar on the inside of the vacuum bag to kill any live fleas caught in the bag.

  • If the vacuum is bag-less be sure you thoroughly empty the debris and insects in the outdoor trash bin. Also be sure to clean the container.

  • Make sure the floor, furnishing, and trim are as accessible as possible. This may mean placing smaller pieces of furniture on top of larger pieces or pulling other furniture away from the wall if you are able.

  • Pick up loose items off the floor as if prepping for a carpet cleaning. If this is not done the technician will not be able to perform the service.
  • There is no need to move large furniture items.

Things to do during your flea treatment

  • All sheets, blankets, and other bedding should be washed in detergent and the hottest water the fabrics can tolerate. Read labels, we are not responsible for damaged clothing.

  • Clothing, throw-rugs, and other textiles on or close to the floors should also be washed or dry-cleaned.

  • Since you will need to be out of your home for a few hours following the flea treatment we recommend you use this time to take these items to a laundromat for cleaning.

  • In all cases when a pet is present in the home, the pet should receive a flea treatment by a veterinarian or other qualified animal-health professional.

Once the technician arrives

  • Walk your technician through any specific areas you are seeing fleas and any other information that could be helpful in solving your infestation.

  • The structure will need to be vacant when the treatment begins. After, people in pets will need to remain out for 4 hours

  • Again, we recommend using that time be used to take larger items to the Laundromat for cleaning.

What to expect after a flea service

  • Please keep in mind full control will take 5-7 days and there may be a "Re-hatch" of non-biting fleas. Seeing more fleas in this time frame is a completely normal part of the service. If after 7 full days you are still seeing issues please contact our office.

  • If there is unwanted or feral animals on the property, they are likely contributing to the flea infestation.

  • Never feed or harbor wild or feral animals. Please contact animal control or a trapping service.

Never treat a pest control issue with any of your own products. Additional products applied can be unsafe and will only make pest problems worse. If additional products are applied outside of those applied by expert pest control any warranties offered will be void.
